I really deserve a break after having so many exams and quizzes this week, I needed time for myself. Today I decided I will play Infinite Flight and do some test flights in their B757-200 aircraft. I decided to do some test flights because, in the coming days, I plan to use this aircraft in the Infinite Flight Livery as my go-to aircraft for private routes. I have never flown the B757-200 in Infinite Flight before so I decided to do 3 flights which 1 of them involved RNAV approach. Aguadilla (BQN/TJBQ) - Aguadilla (BQN/TJBQ) In case you didn't know, Aguadilla Airport, also known as Rafael Hernandez Airport, is a Puerto Rican airport located in the northwestern part of the Island. It offers a runway of 11,702ft(3,567m) the longest runway in the Caribbean Region (not including Cuba). It was one of the biggest military base of Puerto Rico in the 1930's. On 1973 the military base was closed and a new public airport was opened. The airport currently serves a few routes to the United States but it's mostly use for cargo purposes. So I decided to make a first test flight involving an RNAV approach. I took off from Aguadilla heading north, then I slowly made my way back to the airport for an RNAV approach. Now this landing, even though in the picture it seems like it was smooth it actually wasn't (as expected for my first landing). I almost stalled, didn't flare so much and I hit the ground, I would say pretty rough. Now with that said it was a very great first try, now it was time to take it to the next level. I decided to go in the Infinite Flight Community Forum and find a takeoff/landing profiles with a quick reference guide so I could land this beast with the correct specifications. And that's where my first ILS landing comes into play... Aguadilla (BQN/TJBQ) - San Juan (SJU/TJSJ) Now this, does put a smile on my face. This landing was my best one, I finally managed to get the speed right and the flare for a smooth landing. It wasn't that butter but it was smooth. I find that when you fly with ILS the landing is waaayy better and more stable compared to RNAV. Now since I know one landing won't do it, I decided to do another ILS landing... San Juan (SJU/TJSJ) - St. Croix (STX/TISX) YESSIRRR.
Another successful landing. With this one I may have flared too fast since I floated for around 2 seconds but it was still smooth, maybe even a butter one! So, I have finally done 1 RNAV approach and 2 ILS landings, I think is time to take this baby back to San Juan for a full flight. I wonder where I would go next... |
