I have found a better way to play Infinite Flight. Now you may ask yourself, what do you mean by "a better way" simple... using a controller. I know I know, controllers aren't fully supported for IF and it has re-connecting issues if the controller turns off but it is way more comfortable. Let me tell you why... More Control I use an iPad Pro 11 inch (2023) and it has become quite stressful trying to land properly. It's almost impossible to land if I fully disconnect the autopilot. Before I even thought of using a controller for IF, I had always left the autopilot on with the heading selector because while trying to land smoothly the plane usually turned either to the right or left and it was very stressful to properly get the hang of it before landing on the runway and sometimes the plane tried to keep the plane on the heading while landing making the plane run off the runway. Which is why after that I decided to disconnect the heading seconds from touchdown so the plane wouldn't move, it worked but then the rudder problem came on. While trying to align the plane on the runway and using very little rudder the plane went crazy and slid to the point of almost crashing which I definitely hated. So i had no choice but to use... A PS4 Controller Yes you heard me right, a PS4 Controller. No need to use too much trim, no need to lose control of the aircraft roll, just do smooth landings like it was supposed to be.
Now sure you may call me a lazy ass and why don't I learn to control the aircraft with the iPad since the controller isn't fully supported but coming from MFS2020 using a controller is waaayy better. I just did a test flight this morning and it was great, sure for some reason I forgot to use the correct amount of flaps for landing and the nose was pointing almost 5 degrees high and almost did a tail strike but it was way better to control. I didn't need to keep autopilot turned on right before touchdown, it was a way better experience. I will now use this method until I managed to get a better gaming laptop to play MFS2020 properly since I can only run it at 20fps with lag spikes, in other words, unplayable.

Decided to do a short flight to St. Thomas using an American Eagle E175 on Infinite Flight. The question is why, why would I fly American Eagle from San Juan to St Thomas if they don't fly in San Juan? Well.. They did. Now yes it wasn't envoy air but they don't have American Eagle - Executive Airlines callsign. I decided to replicate a flight they did using ATR72 when they were operating. Executive Airlines operated ATR72 all over the Caribbean using San Juan as their hub, as subsidary of American Eagle anyone who wanted to travel to the United States from the Caribbean they could've used San Juan as a hub to travel to different states of the USA. Anyways lets get with the trip report San Juan (SJU) - St. Thomas (STT) Beautiful day for flying. Right know boarding 40 passengers going to St Thomas today. Haven't flown the E175 in a while so I hope I remember how to fly this baby. This takeoff was a bit windy, had to use a bit rudder to maintain the aircraft on the center line while pulling up for takeoff. I decided to use a real life departure to St. Thomas by climbing to 520 feet then turn north at 64 degrees heading up to 4500 feet and then turning direct to TOURO while maintaining 9000 feet and follow the ILS arrival to runway 10 at St Thomas. WORST LANDING EVERYep.. 16 knots crosswind and a 5 second float on a short runway is not fun. I probably landed with -300fpm (probably exaggerating but you get the point). Rough touch down but managed to stop before the runway ended that's what matters. Parked at Gate 01 while still devastated by such a bad landing. There's always next time though. Sorry passengers, haven't flown the E175 in a while XD. Alright well this was just a short flight with the E175 after a month so I can get better with the upcoming days.
Thanks for reading this trip report. It's my first trip report so I might have not included everything required for it or need to improve in certain areas but now you know what happen in this flight... I really deserve a break after having so many exams and quizzes this week, I needed time for myself. Today I decided I will play Infinite Flight and do some test flights in their B757-200 aircraft. I decided to do some test flights because, in the coming days, I plan to use this aircraft in the Infinite Flight Livery as my go-to aircraft for private routes. I have never flown the B757-200 in Infinite Flight before so I decided to do 3 flights which 1 of them involved RNAV approach. Aguadilla (BQN/TJBQ) - Aguadilla (BQN/TJBQ) In case you didn't know, Aguadilla Airport, also known as Rafael Hernandez Airport, is a Puerto Rican airport located in the northwestern part of the Island. It offers a runway of 11,702ft(3,567m) the longest runway in the Caribbean Region (not including Cuba). It was one of the biggest military base of Puerto Rico in the 1930's. On 1973 the military base was closed and a new public airport was opened. The airport currently serves a few routes to the United States but it's mostly use for cargo purposes. So I decided to make a first test flight involving an RNAV approach. I took off from Aguadilla heading north, then I slowly made my way back to the airport for an RNAV approach. Now this landing, even though in the picture it seems like it was smooth it actually wasn't (as expected for my first landing). I almost stalled, didn't flare so much and I hit the ground, I would say pretty rough. Now with that said it was a very great first try, now it was time to take it to the next level. I decided to go in the Infinite Flight Community Forum and find a takeoff/landing profiles with a quick reference guide so I could land this beast with the correct specifications. And that's where my first ILS landing comes into play... Aguadilla (BQN/TJBQ) - San Juan (SJU/TJSJ) Now this, does put a smile on my face. This landing was my best one, I finally managed to get the speed right and the flare for a smooth landing. It wasn't that butter but it was smooth. I find that when you fly with ILS the landing is waaayy better and more stable compared to RNAV. Now since I know one landing won't do it, I decided to do another ILS landing... San Juan (SJU/TJSJ) - St. Croix (STX/TISX) YESSIRRR.
Another successful landing. With this one I may have flared too fast since I floated for around 2 seconds but it was still smooth, maybe even a butter one! So, I have finally done 1 RNAV approach and 2 ILS landings, I think is time to take this baby back to San Juan for a full flight. I wonder where I would go next... So, I decided to add a Gaming blog section. Here I will post mostly my experiences in gaming, whether I played a game I really love, what game I'm playing next, etc.
Of course, there's a very big chance this blog won't have much content since I'm in college and college work has been a lot this past few days but just expect gaming content overall (well... expect mostly flight simulators content XD) |
